Geographical location of Hue
Hue is located on the coast near the southernmost part of the North Central region, on the land strip of central Vietnam. Hue has an area of over 5,000 km2, with a population equivalent to 1.2 million people. Hue borders Quang Tri province to the north, Quang Nam and Da Nang to the south, Laos to the west, and the East Sea to the east. Hue has 9 administrative units including 1 city, 2 towns, and 6 districts. The city of Hue is located in the center of the province, stretching along the Huong River, which is known as the poetic Huong River.
Climate and weather of Hue
Hue has a tropical monsoon climate with a hot dry season and a cold wet rainy season, classified as Koppen climate, quite similar to Quang Tri. The rainfall regime in Hue is large, averaging over 2700 mm, concentrated from September to February of the following year, some places over 4000 mm, accounting for 70% of the total annual rainfall, November alone accounts for 30% of the annual rainfall. Average humidity 85%-86%. Storms in Hue are affected by 2 main wind directions: Southwest monsoon and Northeast monsoon.
