The People of Nha Trang

For generations, the people of Nha Trang have been associated with rural villages, rice fields, and the vast natural sea, so they are extremely gentle and friendly. They are hardworking, honest, and live simply, not constrained by strict stereotypes. It seems that the fresh air of the mountains and forests and the gentle breeze of the sea have soothed the souls of the people of Nha Trang.

Visitors will feel the love, generosity, care, and happiness radiating from every aspect of life in Nha Trang. The Nha Trang accent is a blend of Southern and Central dialects. Nha Trang is located in the South of Central Vietnam, so naturally, their culture is a combination of both regions. This accent is familiar but different, and it is always delivered with a warm smile.

History – Culture of Nha Trang

Nha Trang has a long history, from the Old Stone Age, New Stone Age to the Cham-pa civilization period, Vietnamese culture, and ethnic minorities. Nha Trang is a place with many valuable historical and cultural relics, demonstrating the development and intersection of different cultures. Some notable relics include:

Ponagar Tower, an ancient tower built from the 8th to the 13th century, is a place to worship the goddess Yang Ino Po Nagar of the Cham people, and also a place to honor the queen of the ancient Champa kingdom. Ponagar Tower is a symbol of Cham-pa architecture and sculpture, with unique images and patterns, deeply religious and ethnic.

Dien Khanh Citadel, a military architectural work built in 1793, under the reign of King Quang Trung, to resist the invasion of the Qing dynasty. Dien Khanh Citadel has a rectangular shape, four corners have four gates, four sides have four walls, four walls have four ponds. Dien Khanh Citadel is one of the oldest and largest military architectural works in Central Vietnam, a symbol of the heroic spirit and sovereignty of the Vietnamese nation.

Ba Vu Tomb, a spiritual architectural work built in 1886, to commemorate a woman who contributed to the Vietnamese revolution, is Mrs. Vu Thi Ngoc Toan, also known as Mrs. Vu. Mrs. Vu was one of the first people to revolt against the French invasion and sacrificed heroically in the battle of 1859. Ba Vu Tomb is a unique architectural work, with a shape like a conical hat, expressing the simplicity, rusticity, and resilience of Vietnamese women.

In addition, Nha Trang also has many other historical and cultural relics, such as: Long Son Pagoda, Truc Lam Pagoda, Stone Church, Coconut Church, Khai Huyen Palace, Museum…
