The Perfume River has two main sources, both originating from the Truong Son mountain range. The main stream is Ta Trach, 67km long, originating from the Eastern Truong Son range, along the Bach Ma National Park, flowing northwest, through Nam Dong town. It then merges with the Huu Trach stream, 60km long, flowing north through Bang Lang junction. Where these two streams meet forms the Perfume River.
The length of the Perfume River is 80km, the longest section is from Bang Lang to Thuan An estuary with 30km. The slope of the water flow compared to sea level does not differ much, so the river flows slowly. The Perfume River has a jade green color, clear water, carrying the scent of natural grass, flowers, and leaves.
