Cuc Phuong National Park is a nature reserve, a special-use forest located on the boundary of three provinces: Ninh Binh, Hoa Binh, and Thanh Hoa. Cuc Phuong National Park has a rich and diverse flora and fauna system characteristic of tropical rainforests. Many species of flora and fauna at high risk of extinction have been discovered and conserved here. This is also the first national park in Vietnam, and it has been voted and honored by the World Travel Awards as the leading national park in Asia for five consecutive years (2019-2023).
Cuc Phuong National Park has a vast area of over 22,000 hectares. The forest coordinates: From 20°14’ to 20°24’ north latitude, 105°29’ to 105°44’ east longitude. The forest terrain is mainly limestone mountains, earth mountains, and valleys, with altitudes ranging from 150 m to 648 m. The forest includes many streams, lakes, swamps, caves, and waterfalls. The forest climate is warm and humid, with an average temperature from 21°C to 27°C, and an average rainfall from 2,000 mm to 2,200 mm.
Cuc Phuong National Park is an archaeological site. Prehistoric artifacts dating back about 12,000 years have been discovered such as graves, stone axes, stone arrows, shell knives, grinding tools… in some caves here proving that humans have lived in this area from 7,000 to 12,000 years ago. In addition, Cuc Phuong National Park also has many historical, cultural, and religious relics of the ethnic minorities living here, such as the Muong, Thai, Tay, Nung, Dao…
