Geographical location
Hanoi is located in the North of Vietnam, on the banks of the Red River, about 100 km from the East Sea. Hanoi has an area of about 3,358 km2, making it the second-largest city in Vietnam after Ho Chi Minh City. Hanoi has 12 urban districts and 17 suburban districts, with a total population of about 8 million people. Hanoi has many famous places such as Hoan Kiem Lake, West Lake, Temple of Literature – Quoc Tu Giam, Uncle Ho’s Mausoleum, Grand Theater, Old Quarter, One Pillar Pagoda, Tran Quoc Pagoda…, and many other places.
Weather and climate
Hanoi has a tropical monsoon climate, with two main seasons: dry and rainy. The dry season lasts from November to April, with average temperatures from 15 to 20 degrees C. The rainy season lasts from May to October, with average temperatures from 25 to 35 degrees C. Hanoi has four distinct seasons: spring, summer, autumn, and winter. Each season has its own beauty and characteristics. Spring is the season of renewal, of peach blossoms, apricot blossoms, orchid trees in full bloom. Summer is the season of heat, of rain showers, of glasses of sugarcane juice, cool dracontomelon juice. Autumn is the season of coolness, of yellow leaves, of hot bowls of pho, bun thang. Winter is the season of cold, of fog, of warm cups of tea, coffee.
