1. Dong Van Karst Plateau Geopark
This is one of the largest and most beautiful karst plateaus in the world, recognized by UNESCO as a Global Geopark. The Dong Van Karst Plateau has an area of about 2,300 km2, including 4 districts: Quan Ba, Yen Minh, Dong Van, and Meo Vac. The Dong Van Karst Plateau has high mountain peaks, deep valleys, magnificent caves, and ancient villages. The Dong Van Karst Plateau is also home to many ethnic minorities such as H’Mong, Lo Lo, Tay, Nung, Giay, with unique customs and traditional festivals.
2. Lung Cu Flagpole
This is the northernmost point of Vietnam, located in Lung Cu commune, Dong Van district. The Lung Cu flagpole is 33.15 m high, located on Dragon Mountain, 1,470 m above sea level. From the Lung Cu flagpole, you can admire the panoramic view of the Vietnam – China border area, with lush terraced fields, simple stilt houses, and white clouds floating around. The Lung Cu flagpole is a symbol of pride, resilience, and the will to protect the homeland of the Vietnamese people.
3. Ma Pi Leng Pass
This is one of the most famous and difficult passes in Vietnam, located on National Highway 4C, connecting the two districts of Meo Vac and Dong Van. The Ma Pi Leng Pass is about 20 km long, with the highest point being 1,500 m above sea level. The Ma Pi Leng Pass is known as the “Magnificent Pass”, “Paradise for those who love mountain passes” or “King of the Passes”. The Ma Pi Leng Pass has hairpin bends, warped roads, rugged cliffs, and majestic deep valleys. 4. Dong Van ancient town
This is one of the remaining old towns in Vietnam, located in the center of Dong Van town, Dong Van district. The Dong Van Old Quarter has an area of about 2 ha, consisting of about 40 old houses built from the end of the 19th century to the beginning of the 20th century. The Dong Van Old Quarter has a unique architecture, with stone houses, tile roofs, white lime walls, and artistic iron windows. The Dong Van Old Quarter is also a cultural exchange place for many ethnic minorities, such as H’Mong, Tay, Chinese, Nung, with cafes, restaurants, hotels, and souvenir shops.
5. Quan Ba Twin Mountain
Quan Ba Twin Mountain, also known as Fairy Mountain, is a scenic spot located in Tam Son town, Quan Ba district, Ha Giang province, Vietnam. Situated 40 km north of Ha Giang city along Highway 4C1, it is a popular stop for tourists traveling from Ha Giang city to the Dong Van Karst Plateau. The two mountains, resembling two fairy peaches, stand out amidst the vast terraced fields and endless mountains, creating a unique and captivating landscape. 6. Quan Ba Heaven Gate
This is a famous tourist spot in Ha Giang, located at an altitude of 1,500 m above sea level, in Quan Ba commune, Quan Ba district. The Quan Ba Heaven Gate is a winding road between two high cliffs, creating a space like a door opening to the sky. The Quan Ba Heaven Gate has a majestic and poetic beauty, especially on foggy days. The Quan Ba Heaven Gate also has a cool climate all year round, with an average temperature from 15 to 18 degrees Celsius. 7. Hoang Su Phi
This is a mountainous district in the southwest of Ha Giang, with an area of about 629 km2, located at an average altitude of 800 to 1,200 m above sea level. Hoang Su Phi is home to the most beautiful terraced fields in Vietnam, built by the skillful hands of the locals. The most beautiful times in Hoang Su Phi are in September and October, when the terraced fields change color from green to yellow, creating a picturesque landscape. Hoang Su Phi is also home to many ethnic minorities, such as Nung, Dao, La Chi, Co Lao, Mong, with distinctive cultural features and unique festivals.
8. Chieu Lau Thi Peak
This is the second highest mountain in Ha Giang, after Tay Con Linh, located in Phuong Tien commune, Hoang Su Phi district. Chieu Lau Thi Peak is 2,402 m above sea level, shaped like a conical hat. Chieu Lau Thi Peak is a challenging tourist spot for adventure lovers, as the road up the mountain is very steep, rocky, and thorny. Chieu Lau Thi Peak also has a cold climate, with an average temperature from 10 to 15 degrees Celsius. Chieu Lau Thi Peak has a beautiful landscape, with floating clouds, green pine forests, and blooming flowers.
9. Nho Que River
The Nho Que River, a symbol of Ha Giang Province in Vietnam, originates from Nghiem Son Mountain in Yunnan Province, China. It flows through the northwest-southeast direction, entering Vietnam at Xeo Lung Village, Dong Van Province. The river is known for its dazzling beauty, strong currents, and numerous rapids and waterfalls. It’s a tributary of the Gam River, with a total length of 192 kilometers, 46 kilometers of which are within Vietnamese territory. The river’s formation is associated with a long-lasting mythology
10. Sung La Valley
This is a beautiful valley like a painting, located in Sung La commune, Dong Van district. Sung La Valley has an area of about 15 km2, located at an altitude of 1,200 m above sea level. Sung La Valley has lush green terraced fields, stone stilt houses, winding roads, and blooming buckwheat flowers. Sung La Valley is also home to many ethnic minorities, such as H’Mong, Lo Lo, Giay, with colorful traditional costumes and friendly smiles.
11. Lung Cam Cultural Village
This is a unique cultural village, located in Pho Bang commune, Dong Van district. Lung Cam Cultural Village has about 60 households, mainly H’Mong people. Lung Cam Cultural Village has stone stilt houses, tile roofs, white lime walls, built in the traditional architecture of the H’Mong people. Lung Cam Cultural Village also has attractive cultural activities, such as visiting ancient houses, enjoying local cuisine, participating in folk games, listening to fairy tales, and learning how to make handicrafts.
12. Triangle Circuit Flower Garden
This is one of the must-visit tourist spots when coming to Ha Giang, located in various places, such as Dong Van, Meo Vac, Yen Minh, Quan Ba. The Buckwheat Flower Garden is where buckwheat flowers bloom in winter, from October to December. Buckwheat flowers are red, purple, pink, white, creating a colorful and romantic painting. Buckwheat flowers also have a special cultural significance, symbolizing undying love and the vigorous life of the people of Ha Giang.
13. Pao’s house
This is a famous old house, located in Sung La commune, Dong Van district. Pao’s House is a stone stilt house, tile roof, white lime wall, built in 1890. Pao’s House has a unique architecture, with high pillars, artistic iron windows, antique objects, and hand-embroidered paintings. Pao’s House also has many interesting stories, such as the filming location of the movie “Pao’s Story” or the place where a 100-year-old woman still lives healthily.
14. Dong Van market
This is one of the most unique markets in Ha Giang, located in the center of Dong Van town, Dong Van district. Dong Van Market is held every Sunday morning, attracting thousands of ethnic minority people to buy, sell, exchange, and have fun. Dong Van Market has a variety of goods, such as food, clothes, utensils, jewelry, handicrafts, sticky rice wine, dog meat, glutinous rice cake, etc. Dong Van Market is also a place with many cultural colors, with bright traditional costumes, folk songs, vibrant dances, and exciting games.
15. Khau Vai love market
This is a unique market, located in Khau Vai commune, Meo Vac district. Khau Vai Love Market is held on the 27th of the third lunar month every year, which is the love festival of the people of Ha Giang. Khau Vai Love Market is a place with many romantic love stories, where couples who cannot be together due to different circumstances or family objections, meet and embrace each other once a year. Khau Vai Love Market is also a place with many fun activities, such as buying, eating, singing, dancing, riddles, etc.
