Cat Cat Village (Sapa, Vietnam)

Cat Cat is the oldest village in the Northwest region, located right at the foot of the majestic Hoang Lien Son mountain range, about 3km from Sapa town. This is the main living place of the H’Mong ethnic people, with beautiful traditional cultural features preserved and promoted through many generations. When you visit Cat Cat, you will see vast rice fields, beautiful waterfalls, simple but cozy wooden houses, and interesting activities of the local people.

To get to Cat Cat, you can walk, cycle, ride a motorbike, or take a taxi from the center of Sapa town. The journey is not too difficult, you will enjoy the majestic and fresh scenery of the Northwest mountains. When you arrive at the village, you will need to buy a sightseeing ticket for 90,000 VND for adults and 50,000 VND for children. You should also get a free sightseeing guide at the ticket booth for more information about the famous places in the village.

One of the most attractive tourist spots in Cat Cat is the Cat Cat waterfall, also known as Tien Sa waterfall. This is a beautiful waterfall, located between two green hills. The waterfall has three tiers, creating white water streams, falling into a clear lake. You can sit at the foot of the waterfall, listen to the sound of the water, feel the cool and fresh air. You can also take a souvenir photo with the waterfall, or try the feeling of crossing the suspension bridge over the waterfall.

Another special feature of Cat Cat is the first hydroelectric power plant in Vietnam, built by the French in 1925. This power plant provides electricity for the entire Sapa town and the surrounding villages. You can visit the power plant, see how the machines work, and learn more about the history and technology of this place.

When you come to Cat Cat village, you will learn about the culture and life of the H’Mong people in Cat Cat. You can admire the traditional wooden houses, decorated with simple but unique items. You can also visit the handicraft shops, such as ao dai, scarves, handbags, batik fabrics, handmade by talented H’Mong women.

When you visit Cat Cat Village, you can buy these items as souvenirs or gifts for your loved ones. If you are lucky, you can also participate in the unique festivals of the H’Mong people, such as Gau Tao festival, Sinh Ton festival, wedding, age celebration…, and experience folk games, such as tug of war, con throwing, swing, sap dance…

Cat Cat Village is an ideal destination for those who love to explore the natural beauty and culture of the Northwest mountains. You will have interesting and meaningful experiences when coming to this ancient village.
