Dong Van Ancient Town was formed at the beginning of the 20th century, initially just a small trading center of the local people, with a few families of Mong, Tay, and Chinese living. Gradually, it became a bustling market area, attracting many people from neighboring regions. This is the place where many ethnic groups such as Mong, Chinese, Tay, Dao, Nung, Kinh live. Therefore, when coming to Dong Van Ancient Town, you will have the opportunity to experience many different cultures.

Dong Van Ancient Town has about 40 ancient houses, built with similar architectural styles. Most are two-story houses, with yin-yang tile roofs, walls made of stone or brick. The overall Dong Van Ancient Town is a harmonious combination of Vietnamese culture and Chinese architecture. The oldest house here was built in 1860 by Mr. Luong Huy Ngo. Some houses are decorated with lanterns in front of the door, creating a cozy and nostalgic space.

In addition to admiring the ancient houses, you can also enjoy the cafes in Dong Van Ancient Town, where there are unique and creative spaces, such as Old Quarter cafe, Pine Tree cafe, Window cafe… You can also visit Dong Van Ancient Town market, which takes place every Sunday morning, is a place for exchange and trading of people of ethnic groups here. You will see unique traditional costumes, delicious specialty dishes, and unique handicraft products.

Dong Van Ancient Town is not only a beautiful tourist spot, but also a place to preserve and promote the cultural values of the country.
