Da Lat is located on the Lam Vien plateau, in the North of Lam Dong province, at an altitude of 1,500 m above sea level. Da Lat is about 300 km West – South of Ho Chi Minh City, about 140 km Northeast of Nha Trang, about 700 km South of Da Nang. You can choose one of the following ways to get to Da Lat:
By plane
This is the fastest and most convenient way to get to Da Lat. There are many direct flights from Hanoi, Da Nang or Ho Chi Minh City to Lien Khuong Da Lat airport of Vietnam Airlines, VietJet Air and Bambo Airways. From here you can take the airport shuttle bus to the city center Da Lat.
By bus
This is a popular and economical way for those who like to experience the road. There are many high-quality car houses running the Ho Chi Minh City – Da Lat route, such as Phuong Trang, Thanh Buoi, Mai Linh, Minh Thu, Hoang Anh… Travel time is about 6 to 8 hours. If you go from Nha Trang, you can choose Phuong Trang, Thanh Buoi, Loc Phat, Hoang Long… Travel time is about 3 to 4 hours.
By motorbike
This is a suitable way for those who love adventure and freedom. You can drive your own motorbike or rent a motorbike in Ho Chi Minh City or Nha Trang. However, you should note that the road has many winding passes, high slopes, and many police posts. You need to comply well with traffic safety laws, carry full vehicle papers and driver’s license, and drive carefully.
From Ho Chi Minh City, you can go along National Highway 1A to Dau Giay, then turn into National Highway 20 to go through Bao Loc pass and Prenn pass to Da Lat. The total distance is about 300 km, taking about 8 to 10 hours.
From Nha Trang, you can go along National Highway 27C to go through Ngoan Muc pass, Hon Giao pass, Omega pass and Mimosa pass to Da Lat. The total distance is about 140 km, taking about 4 to 5 hours.
By car
This is a convenient and safe way for those who go in groups or families. You can drive your own car or rent a car in Ho Chi Minh City or Nha Trang. The road is similar to a motorbike, but you need to pay attention to the traffic situation, especially on holidays. You also need to prepare full vehicle papers and driver’s license, and comply with traffic safety laws.
