Sung La Valley is a small valley within the territory of Dong Van Karst Plateau, located on National Highway 4C, connecting the towns in Ha Giang land, more than 20km² from Dong Van district. This place is known as the “island”, the “valley where rocks bloom”, the “bright and charming flower of the karst plateau”. From the pass looking down, you will catch the scene of the whole gray, gloomy karst plateau suddenly waking up by the blooming flowers. Throughout the northeastern mountains and forests, you will see the faint pink of the forest peach, the pure white of the plum blossom, interspersed with that are the lush green buds full of life.
To get to Sung La Valley, you can travel by public or personal means from Hanoi to Ha Giang, then continue on National Highway 4C to Dong Van district, then follow provincial road 206 to Sung La commune. The road is quite easy and airy, with limestone mountain ranges highlighting the landscape of Ha Giang.
Sung La Valley not only has beautiful natural scenery, but also brings many other interesting things. This place has historical and spiritual cultural imprints, when it used to be the place where the rustic, old scenes in the movie “Pao’s Story” based on the short story “The sound of the lips behind the stone fence”, completely won the affection of the audience on television. This place is also associated with the image of ethnic people in the highlands, such as the Lo Lo, Hán and H’Mong people.
